Selecting the Book
For this assignment you will select a book (generally non-fiction) that relates to a course objective (s).
You select a book of your choice
There are a whole host of books on globaliztion, leadership, politics, society, power, feminism, communication, ethics, spirituality, and culture/ethnicity. Browse the shelves in the library or your local book store and make a selection that interests you. Except for a classic, the book may not be more than 5 years old.
Please discuss your choice with the professor so that we are in agreement as to its relevance to the course.
Give the professor the APA book citation; a library listing for the class will be prepared. (ALREADY COMPLETED)

You will participate in book conversations where you will present a critique of your book to colleagues in the class.
Summarize the book in one paragraph then let your colleagues know if you think the book is worthwile to read or not, and why…..
Why did you select this book? browsing? read about it? recommended by a friend?
Who is the author? written other books? on what? qualified? How? What is the purpose of the book?
What are the major themes or ideas of the book?
What are the strengths and weaknesses of the book?
Is the subject matter approached in an unusual manner? How? Why?
What is the quality of the scholarship?
Is the material well documented? are generalizations well supported? What significance does the book have to global leadership and nursing’s role? Be specific.
Would you recommend the book? to whom? why?
Prepare a 1-2 page *Single spaced critique*. At the begining, give the book’s APA citation as well as the number of pages and cost. Do not include a summary. Address the questions listed in the converstation section. Give examples to support your points.
